Hi Jane,
I attempted to make this cake, however i wasn’t able to decorate it as I would have liked to as the buttercream completely stiffened up, i followed the instructions exactly, and I tried adding milk, and even microwaving for 5 seconds at a time but to no avail 🙁
It still tasted great though so thank you!

Could I ask how deep the cake is as I only have 2 z 8 inch tins that are 3 inches deep? I don’t want to risk the sponges spilling out?

I am planning to make this glorious cake for a family birthday celebration (my brother) but need to make and take to a house we are all renting (18 of us). How long will it last in the fridge with some travelling? To give you an idea I will be travelling on a Weds and Thurs but the birthday isn’t until the Sunday so I plan to make on Monday and ice on Tuesday – it will only be out of the fridge for travelling days and I can store in a sealed container and cool bag with ice blocks around, once we get to the venue, for hiding purposes. I figure this should be okay? Thanks

Hi Jane, i baked this last week and wow I was very good! Thank you, I do however have a question, it states it serves 18 people which I’m assuming are a decent 2-2/12” party sizes from an 8” tin if I’m wanting to use a 9” tin how many would this serve, sorry if this is a silly question
