Based on the size of my 8″ cake, I’m going to be scaling down to 1/4 of the recipe for my two layer 6 inch version.

This cake is absolutely delicious! Thank you for sharing it 🙂 I would highly recommend.

I made 3/4 of the recipe, baked in three 8″ tins for 27mins and the finished cake was 6″ tall! It’s serving approximately 30 people very comfortably. I used Jane’s caramel sauce recipe (scaled down to use 100g of sugar and there was plenty left over).

I’m going to try a 6″ version next (scaling down to 1/4 of the recipe for a two layer cake) and then a small (1/2lb) loaf cake.

What measurements did you use for the two tier cake, the same or did you scale it?

I usually do my sponges in one 8″ deep cake tin and cut into 2 or 3. Would this work for this sponge? I do your sticky toffee cake in the deep tin and cut and it works perfectly. Thank you for the fab recipes xx

I made this as a round 2 tier and a loaf cake and it’s delicious!
For the loaf cake I made the recipe as is but 1/3 of the values and it made 2 loaf cakes. I baked for 35 mins and they came out perfect!

I’ve made this today and whilst the cake is absolutely delicious I found the buttercream way too sweet so mixed some cream cheese into it – that toned the sweetness down perfectly.

For the loaf cake it was likely just over baked so needed less time – but glad it worked as a circle!! x

In reply to Linda.

I made this as a loaf cake and it came out really dry. I’ve followed it with success as a normal circle tin so it might just not work in a loaf.

In reply to Kara.

Take a look at the Christmas Gingerbread Cake ~ exactly the same ingredients but with reduced quantities.
