Whether you found a bag of frozen cherries in the back of your freezer or picked and froze your own, you need this Cherry Milkshake recipe! It tastes like a cherry pie in a glass with a few special ingredients.

Let’s face it: a milkshake is just a way to eat double the amount of ice cream in half the time. And I’m okay with that.
If you want another version, try my banana milkshake in the blender too!
The thing that makes this cherry milkshake stand out is the crushed graham crackers. This gives it a cherry pie flavor more than just a cherry flavor.
Ingredients

- Cherries. We need one cup of frozen cherries for this recipe. The easiest cherries to find are frozen sweet cherries, but a mix of half sour and half regular cherries would be absolutely delicious. I just don’t live in an area where sour cherries are available (and I’m very sad about it).
- Milk. Just 1/2 cup of milk to lend a little liquid to get the blender going. Use whatever type you have on hand.
- Vanilla Ice Cream. Grab one pint of your favorite vanilla ice cream for this recipe. I’m a big believer in French custard ice cream, but vanilla bean is my second choice!
- Almond Extract. Believe it or not, almond extract is the dominant flavor in cherry desserts that make it taste more like cherries! The reason is because almond extract is derived from bitter almonds, which have an aroma very similar to cherries. The match is made in heaven.
- Cinnamon. If you want this cherry milkshake to have cherry pie vibes, use 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon not bring warmth to the mix. You can absolutely leave it out if it doesn’t sound like your thing.
- Graham Crackers. Similar to the cinnamon, the crushed graham crackers are totally optional, but I highly recommend them. If you’re a fan of cereal milk (and other Christina Tosi creations like I am), graham crackers bring such a fancy subtle twist to this typical cherry milkshake.
- Heavy Cream. If you like your milkshakes with a scoop of whipped cream on top, I recommend whipping 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream with a spoonful of powdered to make your own topping.
How to Make a Cherry Milkshake

It’s pretty simple: combine all ingredients in the blender except the whipping cream. It’s best to put the milk on the bottom to help with the blending!
Blend until smooth. Divide into two glasses and top with optional whipped cream.

Gotta love good quality spices. There is such a difference from the grocery and so worth a few extra pennies. Can you ship cherry milkshakes to Indiana? I wish!! :)
I agree with you
I love love love cherries in anything. In fact, I pretty much only eat black cherry yogurt. I am so jealous that you have a cherry tree IN YOUR YARD. When we go to the market tomorrow, I hope there are still cherries, because cherry pie shakes will be on the dessert menu!
Milkshakes are easily one of my favorite sweet comfort foods. I mean, how far can you go wrong with drinkable ice cream? This looks like an excellent way to celebrate the beginning of cherry season!
Wow! This looks amazing! What a treat!
Are the cherries in this recipe sour cherries or sweet ones?
Sweet.
